“My love of the outdoors and being physically active is a great foundation for my work in sports medicine. Every day I try to help young athletes get back to their activity as quickly and safely as possible. As I am trying to do the same thing myself, it certainly helps me to relate. I feel very lucky that I really do enjoy what I do in my work at Vanderbilt.”
“We both love being active and playing sports. She played soccer through high school and so did I,” Gregory says of time spent with his daughter, Sarah Frances, 21.
“We have a good group of men and women who play pick-up ball once or twice per week. I enjoy the competition and the camaraderie.”
Gregory, who served as the team physician for the U.S. men’s and women’s volleyball teams, poses with the bronze medals they won at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
Gregory and his fiancée, pediatrician Vicky Phillips, MD, stroll their Sylvan Park neighborhood with their dog, Angie. The couple plans to marry later this year.
Gregory is a team physician at Vanderbilt University and takes care of the men’s basketball and women’s soccer teams. He attends games and conducts a weekly training room clinic and sees athletes in the sports medicine clinic as needed.
