Dear Alumni,

We’re turning 150! Vanderbilt University School of Medicine officially turns 150 this year, and we have a lot to celebrate on this “sesquicentennial” milestone! Each of you provides a piece of our VUSM story, and we would love to hear your experiences and memories. Contact us to share your memories and photos that we can compile for the future.

I continue to be grateful to work closely with 40 alumni who comprise our VMAA Board of Directors. At our annual meeting last fall, we recognized board members who completed their terms as well as welcomed our incoming board members.

Outgoing board members are Dr. Bob Boyce, Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Society; Dr. Cathy Fuchs, Luton Psychiatry Society; Dr. Saba Rehman, C/O 2024 student representative; Dr. Rohan Shah, Tennessee regional director; Dr. Deb Sherman, Savage Ophthalmology Society; and Dr. Austin Tipold, 2024 house staff representative.

I would also like to give special recognition to Dr. Mary Laird Warner, who completed her two-year term as VMAA President. My thanks to all of these alumni who gave their time in service to VMAA.

Incoming board members are Dr. Sean Donahue, Savage Ophthalmology Society; Dr. Stephen Engstrom, Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Society; Yanelis Diaz Greenberg, C/O 2025 student representative; Dr. David Marcovitz, Luton Psychiatry Society; Dr. Raj Narayani, Tennessee regional director; and Dr. Marie Kuzemchak Patten, 2025 house staff representative. In addition, Dr. Elise Fallucco began a two-year term as President, and Dr. Paul Pearigen began a two-year term as President-elect.

2025 will be an exciting year in many ways — including the return to an annual VUSM Reunion celebration! Moving to an annual reunion will allow us to foster stronger, more frequent connections with our alumni population. We are thrilled to welcome our VUSM alumni who graduated in years ending in -0 and -5 to Nashville, Nov. 6-8. We look forward to celebrating together annually and reconnecting with old friends.

We continue to seek opportunities to engage with our Vandy Med alumni, so keep an eye on our websites, social media and email for ways you can stay connected to us and your fellow alumni. This 150th anniversary represents a legacy of excellence in education, research and patient care that carries on with each of you, and I know you will continue to make a profound impact on medicine and health care worldwide.
