Eligibility

PhD Students

PhD students from any PhD program at Vanderbilt University (VU) or Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) may apply after they have selected a laboratory and research mentor. Applications are typically submitted at the end of the first year of training, though students may also apply at the end of their second year. Under exceptional circumstances, students in their third year may be considered.

Postdoctoral Fellows

Postdoctoral fellows from any department at VU or VUMC may apply, provided they have completed no more than 24 months of postdoctoral training at the time of application.

APMM Application Guidelines

Application Deadline: June 1

Please submit the following:

  • Current CV
  • Training Information: Research mentor, year of training, and department/program
  • Personal Statement (200 words max): Why you want to join APMM, your training goals, and career plans
  • Research Statement (200 words max): Briefly describe your research and how it aligns with APMM's goals
  • Letter of Support: From your thesis or research mentor confirming their support for your participation in APMM and your development of a translational research project, with help from the APMM, as part of your research plans

Application Deadline

The Fall 2026 APMM Applications are due Monday, June 1, 2026.
