Certificate Program in Medical Physics

The Vanderbilt University Medical Physics Certificate Program was accredited by CAMPEP in 2026.

Applications are currently not being accepted. We are exploring accepting applications in academic year 2026-2027.

This website will be updated with information as it is formally approved by the School of Medicine. 

Admissions Requirements

  • Applicants must be a Vanderbilt University (VU) or Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) postdoc/employee in order to apply. 
  • This is envisioned to be a Vanderbilt certificate program only. This certificate program is currently not open to any applicants outside of the Vanderbilt community.
  • Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in physics or a related discipline.

Curriculum

The certificate program curriculum plans to cover 6 Medical Physics core courses:

  • RAMT 5304: Radiation Interactions and Dosimetry 
  • RAMT 5310: Introduction to Clinical Applications and Radiation Protection 
  • RAMD 5331: Physics of Medical Imaging 
  • RAMT 5248: Radiation Biophysics 
  • RAMT 5201: Anatomy and Physiology for Medical Physicists
  • RAMT 5311: Clinical Therapy Physics I
