Training Programs
Graduate students in VICB laboratories and training programs benefit from the exceptional level of collaboration that naturally flows from our multidisciplinary research approach.
Vanderbilt Chemical Biology Interface
(V-CBI)
This NIH-sponsored program provides significant, in-depth training to graduate students studying at the interface of synthetic/mechanistic chemistry and the biological sciences.
Chemical Biology Association of Students
(CBAS)
CBAS is an organization that promotes professional and social relationships between students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty in the chemical biology discipline at VU and VUMC.
Chemical Biology of Infectious Disease Training Program
(CBID)
This program prepares graduate students to address the growing threat of infectious diseases, and provides a summer internship experience at a major pharmaceutical company that is actively engaged in antimicrobial drug discovery.
Admission Programs
Students who are interested in chemical biology should explore the four admission programs through which they may apply for graduate study at Vanderbilt, all of which provide access to VICB member labs.
College of Arts and Science
Chemistry Department Graduate Program
This multidisciplinary Ph.D. program trains chemists in a number of areas including chemical biology.
College of Arts and Science & School of Medicine
Quantitative & Chemical Biology Graduate Program
This program allows students who have earned undergraduate or masters degrees in the quantitative sciences (chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or physics) to pursue graduate studies at the interface of these disciplines within the biological sciences.
School of Medicine
Interdisciplinary Graduate Program
Individuals pursuing a Ph.D. in the basic biomedical or biological science departments at Vanderbilt University may join participating departments through the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Biological and Biomedical Sciences (IGP).
School of Medicine
Medical Scientist Training Program
This program provides students with an integrated curriculum that features a strong core education in medicine and intensive training in scientific inquiry. Successful completion of the program leads to both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. The MSTP program builds on the existing strengths of Vanderbilt University to meet national needs for well-trained basic and clinical biomedical investigators.
