Graduate Student, Biochemistry

My research interests include epigenetics, metabolic disorders, functional genomics, and bioinformatics. The goal of my project is to study the epigenetic features that shape type 2 diabetes (T2D). To accomplish this, I will build a genome-wide DNA methylation profile of pancreatic islets in human subjects with and without T2D with the goal of identifying regulatory regions mediating T2D risk, as well as the genes under their control. This study will improve our understanding of the molecular changes driving risk of T2D through epigenetic characterization of human islets.
