Professor Tina Iverson

Tina Iverson earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the California Institute of Technology in 2000 and has held a primary appointment in the Department of Pharmacology since 2005. She holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Biochemistry.

Dr. Iverson’s lab’s research applies a structure-forward approach to the understanding of how cells interpret environmental cues. Aspects of this work include questions at the intersection of mitochondrial metabolism and signal transduction. The findings have implications for a range of human diseases of altered cell fate, most notably cancer and neurodegeneration.

Dr. Iverson’s faculty affairs duties include submitting requests to the Provost for open faculty positions, developing employment policies, processing faculty appointments, reappointments, promotions and tenure, leaves of absence, retirement, emeriti, endowed chairs, and conflict resolution.

In addition to her professorships, Dr. Iverson is an active member of the Center for Structural Biology and the Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology.
