Stabile promoted to Director of Trainee Engagement and Well-being
Associate Director of Trainee Well-being Dr. RC Stabile will become the Director of Trainee Engagement and Well-being in the Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET) Office, effective February 1.
Dr. Stabile serves the BRET trainee community by supporting their care needs and creating intentional opportunities to gather as a community. This role collaborates with various campus partners to identify paths of care for multiple situations that may impact a BRET trainee.
Dr. Stabile plays a vital role in fostering a supportive environment for graduate students’ and postdoctoral fellows’ overall well-being, including Treatment of Care plans, Critical Need Fund management, and resource communication and distribution. His expertise in crisis management enables him to effectively handle challenging situations and provide necessary support to trainees in need. Dr. Stabile also serves on the Basic Science Dean’s Mental Health and Wellness Committee.
Furthermore, Dr. Stabile conducts a number of engagement events including the Lunch and Learn program, Failure Talk sessions, and the Field Trip series. These opportunities are part of the larger concept of the Wellness Wheel of Health, which described health as a multifaceted ring of physical, spiritual, emotional, occupational, intellectual, environmental, financial, and social health.
When a trainee has a specific care need but is unsure of what to do next, Dr. Stabile is always an appropriate person to connect with. He is available to consult on a variety of concerns and will ensure you leave with a plan of action.
Dr. Stabile has been actively involved in the academic field since 2013, making a positive impact on students’ well-being and growth. Dr. Stabile’s early professional years were dedicated to working in residential life and serving as a crisis responder. This experience allowed him to develop a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by students and the importance of providing timely assistance and guidance.
“It is a genuine honor to fulfill my responsibilities in this role, and I hold in high regard the emphasis that BRET places on the well-being of trainees,” said Stabile. “My sincere aspiration is to persist in my service to this community and serve as a dedicated advocate for trainees as they navigate the challenges of an academic space. Together, let us foster an environment where their journey is supported and celebrated.”
