I am focused on studying innate sensing of Staphylococcus aureus by skeletal cells during bone infection (osteomyelitis). Specifically, I'm focused on bone-resorbing osteoclasts that differentiate from the myeloid lineage and how the presence of bacteria in bone and inflammation alter normal bone remodeling processes, leading to bone destruction.
