Pitt Hopkins Syndrome (PTHS) is a severe intellectual disability for which there are no available treatments. Our labs have discovered that potentiation of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor 4 (M4) can rescue cognitive phenotypes of this disorder in a mouse model. The goal of my project is to validate the M4 receptor as a therapeutic target for PTHS, and elucidate the role of this receptor in cognitive enhancement.
