Cells need to solve a fundamental problem of how to traffick proteins around within the cell. While some trafficking pathways are well understood, the mechanism, cargo, and destination of other trafficking machinery remains unknown. I am working to understand the biological function and mechanism of the AP4 and AP5 coat assemblies with particular interest in their importance to the nervous system.
