Thyroid cancer overdiagnosis has resulted in over half a million patients receiving unnecessary surgery over the past 20 years. Current diagnostic methods are often unable to predict which thyroid lesions remain benign and which lesions progress to an aggressive disease. My research project uses primarily computational methods to study the genetics, immune microenvironment, and evolution of thyroid tumors in order to build a comprehensive predictive model for disease outcome.
