My research interests focus on how altered signaling in the brain directly translates to altered behavioral states. Specifically, I am interested in studying altered neurotransmission in depression, as well as in substance use disorders. Our lab studies a region of the brain called the Bed Nucleus of the Stria Terminalis, which has been shown to govern maladaptive behaviors like depression and relapse to drug seeking in both humans and rodent models.
