I am is studying Staphylococcus aureus in an osteomyelitis model to understand how metabolism impacts virulence during infection. I aim to utilize chemical and antibody-based immunomodulatory techniques and transposon-sequencing to discern changes in immune cell signaling and bacteria metabolism during infection. The identification of particular nutrient transporters that allow S. aureus to proliferate on bone tissue under these conditions may reveal novel anti-infective targets for invasive bone infection.
