Metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 mRNA transcripts are subject to A-to-I RNA editing at 4 sites, creating 16 mRNA transcripts and 8 protein isoforms. These amino acid alterations occur at the interface of mGlu receptor dimers. My project focuses on the functional implications of dimerization and signaling through receptor dimers formed by these edited mGlu4 isoforms.
