For my research project, I will be leveraging the genetic background of individuals in BioVU to try to inform understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders, such as major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease. To advance understanding, I'll be using genetic risk scores to try to predict the onset and severity of neuropsychiatric disorders. To try to find putative biomarkers to help in diagnosis, I'll be using lab data and genetic information of individuals. Additionally, I'll apply pharamcogenetic strategies to currently used drugs for psychiatric disorders to better inform treatment.
