My project is exploring the protein-protein interactions of Zika virus and its host cell. Zika virus is an emerging infection that is unique among the Flaviviridae as it can cross the placental barrier and cause congenital disease. My goal is to characterize protein-protein interaction networks in order to better understand basic pathogenesis and describe differences between closely related viruses that lead to differing clinical outcomes.
