My project focuses on understanding the mechanisms of innate immune system dysregulation that leads to atherosclerosis, the leading cause of cardiovascular disease. Specifically, I study PirB, a mouse ortholog of a human immunomodulatory receptor family. I am interested in PirB’s role in perpetuating the unresolved innate immune response observed in arterial plaques.
