I am co-mentored by Drs. Monteggia and Neul to study the neurodevelopmental disorder Rett Syndrome, which is caused by a loss of function mutation in Methyl-CpG-Binding Protein 2 (MeCP2). My project focuses on the synaptic phenotypes of Rett Syndrome using electrophysiology and molecular biology techniques. Specifically, I use a rodent model to study the role of MeCP2 regulated micro RNAs in neurotransmission and the therapeutic potential of Ketamine.
