Alcohol use disorders (AUDs) are characterized by compulsive alcohol consumption and a shift from use to dependence, driven by the need to consume alcohol to ameliorate associated negative affective states, such as anxiety and depression. I will be studying the role of endocannabinoids in regulating the neural circuitry involved in generating negative affective states associated with AUDs.
