I study the human B cell response to Bunyavirus infection, specifically Hantaviruses. I will be isolating monoclonal antibodies to specific viral antigens using B cells from human donors previously infected with Hantavirus. Isolated antibodies will then be characterized and tested for protective ability and broadly neutralizing potential, specifically across other members of the bunyavirus family. This research will further inform vaccine design for Hantaviral infection, as well as potentially provide an antibody based therapeutic.
