Second Look Weekend 2019
Congratulations on your acceptance to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine! We are excited to welcome you back to our campus during Second Look Weekend! SLW 2019 is scheduled for April 12-14, 2019, and designed to show you what makes Vanderbilt unique—our cutting-edge curriculum, world-class faculty, and most of all, our students.
The weekend will kick off with a welcome reception at Nashville’s iconic Parthenon. Mix and mingle with faculty and current students and then join Dr. Bonnie Miller, Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs & Senior Associate Dean for Health Sciences Education as she officially welcomes you to Nashville. For attendees that are interested, we will have a social mission roundtable event that takes place before the official welcome.
Saturday morning brings the opportunity to experience life as a first-year student! You will participate in a case-based learning session and build your own Immersion schedule to see how you can direct your education. For the afternoon, there are planned panels, presentations and activities designed to let you explore aspects of the Vanderbilt culture. On Saturday night, we’ll officially close the weekend with dinner and entertainment —a show highlighting our multi-talented students. Sunday morning will include an optional housing tour so you can see where some of your current students live.
Friday and Saturday nights are for exploring all the great things Nashville has to offer. As one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, the atmosphere of Music City is perfect for young professionals.
To get the most out of your Second Look experience, we encourage you to meet as many current students and prospective classmates as possible. Visit with our stellar faculty and explore the limitless opportunities Vanderbilt offers.
In short, have fun! See if we’re a good fit for you— we’ve already decided you’re a good fit for us.
