Barretos Cancer Hospital
Barretos Cancer Hospital is the most advanced oncological hospital in Brazil with 100% assistance through Brazilian Public Health System (SUS), sustained mainly through associates’ donations. Every day, their 380 doctors who work exclusively and full time assist 6,000 people in 1,756 cities across 27 states in Brazil to prevent and diagnose cancer. Their prevention work began in 1994 in order to improve the early diagnosis of cancer in the region because most of the cases arriving at the hospital were already in an advanced stage. With its success, the project grew and gained an elaborate style of organization and expanded not only in Barretos, but in the regions of the country. Barretos Cancer Hospital has both mobile units(equipped bus and trucks) and permanent units throughout Brazil.
