Erin Von Klein Honored by American Academy of Pediatrics
Current Vanderbilt MPH student Erin Von Klein, M.D., was recently honored by the American Academy of Pediatrics with the 2024 Marshall Klaus Perinatal Research Award in Health Services Research for her project, “Employment Decision-Making Among Caregivers of Low Birthweight Infants.” Erin worked with mentors Gilbert Gonzales, Ph.D., Joseph Zickafoose, M.D., M.S., and Stephen Patrick, M.D., M.P.H., on this project. She accepted the award at the 2024 AAP National Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
Erin is a first-year MPH student in the Epidemiology track. She is a Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellow in the Department of Pediatrics. She received her B.A. in Biology from Dartmouth College before earning her M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her pediatric residency at Northwestern University/Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Her research interests include healthcare policy, advocacy, and outcomes as it relates to very low birthweight and medically complex neonates.
