Dr. Syed Asad Ali has been awarded a Grand Challenges in Global Health grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to test a selected group of candidate biomarkers to identify and monitor environmental enteropathy, which causes malnutrition and stunting. A native of Karachi, Pakistan, Ali received his M.B.B.S. from Aga Khan University in 2001 and his M.P.H. from Vanderbilt University in 2009. He currently serves as Fellowship Director in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at Aga Khan University Medical College.
