Emily Kyle is from State College, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Susquehanna University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in psychology. While at Susquehanna, Emily was a student-athlete and team captain, a model student/teaching assistant for Cell Biology & Genetics and conducted her undergraduate capstone research on high altitude effects on gene expression in Drosophila melanogaster.
After graduation, Emily initially worked remotely for ACMG as a ClinGen Coordinator for the Inborn Errors in Metabolism Variant Curation Expert Panels. In this role, she strengthened her professional skill set and gained in-depth knowledge of variant interpretation and classification. She then transitioned to a position as a Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) for the Epilepsy Neurogenetics Initiative at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). As a GCA, she shadowed, supported, and collaborated with genetic counselors and other providers, frequently worked directly with patient families, and attended numerous educational sessions and events, all of which significantly expanded her understanding of the field.
In her free time, Emily loves to spend time with family and friends, play or coach volleyball, travel, and support dog rescue shelters.
