Entered the Pharmacology Program in AY 2022/23I’m from West Des Moines, IA and received my B.S. in biochemistry in 2020 at the University of Iowa, where I did my undergraduate research in DNA repair in the lab of Dr. Maria Spies. I moved to Nashville for the Vanderbilt IGP in 2021, before joining the lab of Dr. Julie Rhoades in the Department of Medicine. Our lab studies the transcription factor Gli2, which is regulated by the Hedgehog signaling pathway and is overexpressed in a wide range of cancers, and as a result is an attractive target for therapeutics. GANT58 is a small molecule which is thought to be a Gli2 antagonist, and in my research I will characterize its mechanism of action and investigate its potential as a cancer therapeutic. -
