Techniques used in the Brash lab:
We are specialists in the analytical biochemistry of fatty acid oxygenases. To set up the experiments and analyze the fatty acid products we routinely do the following: clone and express enzymes; site-directed mutagenesis; protein purification; synthesis of fatty acid analogs; analysis of enzyme reactions; westerns and other gels; HPLC analysis of enzymic products; UV-Visible spectroscopy; mass spectrometry (GC-MS and LC-MS); NMR for structural analysis of novel substrates and products.
