The ASPIRE Path in Molecular Medicine

I am a second-year neuroscience graduate student in Dr. Tonia Rex’s lab in the Vanderbilt Eye Institute. My research project is focusing on using a mutated form of erythropoietin (EPO) as a therapeutic approach for a mouse model of glaucoma. Specifically, I will be investigating whether Nrf2-mediated activation of the antioxidant response element is a relevant pathway by which EPO can be used as a treatment for glaucoma.
