We’re so excited to have you join us for the first in-person SGEA conference since 2019! This is our opportunity to reconnect as a community and share our perspectives and expertise with each other. The most important part of this conference is you! So, we hope you can join us!
The theme of the conference is “Building the Future of Medical Education Together.” Our planning committee chose this theme to celebrate our return together as a community and to collectively look forward to the exciting future in medical education. We have three inspiring plenary speakers who will help us look forward in three unique and important ways.
We will also have a variety of engaging workshops, thought-provoking innovation abstracts, and insightful research abstracts, as well as poster session. At this three day conference, you will have the opportunity to hear from colleagues across the SGEA about common challenges, new ideas, and exciting solutions. We look forward to seeing you in Nashville!

Welcome to Nashville!
Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is honored and excited to host SGEA 2023 in our vibrant city, one wholly familiar with the vital mission of medical education (and the importance of fun, too).
In 1843, Nashville became Tennessee's state capital. Thirty years later, railroad magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt endowed and founded Vanderbilt University. We've been growing and innovating together ever since, particularly in higher education, publishing, music production, tourism, and health care management.
We aim to provide a warm welcome, upholding Nashville's status as "America's friendliest city" as prescribed by Travel + Leisure magazine. You may also know Nashville as the Music City, and you'll find no shortage of great venues to catch a set or two from world-class musicians and groups. Head to Broadway in Downtown Nashville for plenty of food and fun beneath the neon lights of famed Honky Tonks. Tour the historic Ryman Auditorium (former home of the Grand Ole Opry) or explore musical history at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum or National Museum of African American Music.
If it's a more quiet scene you seek, venture out to Hillsboro Village near Vanderbilt's campus to find local food staples like the celebrated Pancake Pantry and Biscuit Love. Take a stroll at Centennial Park, 132 acres of green space and paved trails where medical students often unwind, playing soccer or ultimate frisbee. Nashville is home to more than 100-stand alone parks around the metro area.
We hope you will check out all there is to do in Nashville while you are here and enjoy the city outside of conference sessions. Connect with colleagues in what is, in our biased opinion, the best city in the country.
