National Public Health Week is April 3-9

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program will celebrate National Public Health Week while launching its Public Health Student Association (PHSA).

National Public Health Week, an initiative of the American Public Health Association (APHA), will celebrate how cultural connections and intersections affect health, wellbeing, and public health systems.

Vanderbilt MPH and PHSA invites the community to the following events:

  • Tuesday, April 4
    PHSA Launch Party
    The Public Health Student Association (PHSA) invites you to a picnic with lunch, games, and community-building at Centennial Park. Lunch provided with RSVP.
    When: 12 p.m.
    Where: Centennial Park

 

  • Wednesday, April 5
    Public Health Communication 101 with Colin Walsh, MD, MA
    Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics, Medicine, and Psychiatry Dr. Colin Walsh will explore essential strategies in communicating public health to the community. Lunch provided with RSVP.
    When: 12 to 1 p.m.
    Where: MPH Classroom (2525 West End Ave. Ste. 1010)

 

  • Friday, April 7
    Q&A with Tennessee Department of Health Former Commissioner Morgan McDonald, MD
    Over an informal lunch, Dr. McDonald will share her career path and lessons learned from her time leading at the Tennessee Department of Health.
    When: 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    Where: MPH Classroom (2525 West End Ave. Ste. 1010)

 

PHSA will also host a Vanderbilt Health Sciences Graduate and Professional Student Pre-Game Social before the Vanderbilt vs. Georgia baseball game this Friday, March 31, at 2525 West End Ave. (8th floor). The pre-game social begins at 4 p.m. Graduate and professional students may RSVP for the event.
