The mission of the BRET Office of Outcomes Research is to provide program evaluation and program outcomes analyses to biomedical PhD training program directors at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Abby Brown

Director of Outcomes Research

Assistant Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics

Abby Brown, Ph.D., helped launch the BRET Office of Outcomes Research in 2006 and is currently the director. Dr. Brown is also an Assistant Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics with the Vanderbilt School of Medicine. As Director of Outcomes Research, Dr. Brown is responsible for collection, analysis, and dissemination of relevant information to assist all biomedical educational programs at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine in planning, evaluating, and developing policies and programs to provide a high quality education in the biomedical sciences.

Dr. Brown received her B.S. degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, her M.S. degree from Miami University (Ohio), and her Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics from Vanderbilt University.

Jan Varadarajan

Project Manager

In her role as a project manager, Jan Varadarajan, Ph.D., supports the analysis, interpretation and visualization of the outcomes data from Vanderbilt’s biomedical research training programs for the Ph.D. students. Additionally, she is responsible for the evaluation of the first year Ph.D. umbrella program.

Dr. Varadarajan earned her M.Sc. degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India, her M.A. in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin in Texas, and her Ph.D. in Molecular biology from Purdue University in Indiana.

Lindsay Meyers

Director of Operations, BRET

Lindsay Meyers, MDiv, is currently the Director of Operations within the Office for Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET).  She is responsible for various strategic and operational initiatives within this office, including supporting the development of the Outcomes Database for alumni records and the maintenance of the Trainee Database for active students.  With over seventeen years of experience in the BRET office, she brings a wealth of institutional knowledge and operational strategy to each project.

Ms. Meyers received a B.S. degree from Davidson College in Mathematics and a M.Div. from Vanderbilt University.
