Dr. John Gore directs the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS) which is a trans-institutional center focused on the development and application of advanced imaging methods. Students interested in performing research in any aspect of medical imaging make use of the extensive resources provided by VUIIS including research-dedicated MRI, CT, X-ray, nuclear, ultrasound and optical imaging of human subjects and animals. Dr. Gore also teaches a graduate course on Fundamentals of Biomedical Imaging that is offered through the Department of Biomedical Engineering which is available to medical physics students.

Dr. Shane Hutson currently chairs the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Vanderbilt University. Interested in biological physics, he examines how biological systems can be investigated and manipulated by light. He also investigates systems biology of developmental toxicology. Dr. Hutson coordinates with Medical Physics on overlapping curricula and will help you find graduate physics courses of interest to you.
