Visitation Hospital
The Visitation Hospital Foundation is a faith-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. VHF was founded in 1999 with a mission to provide competent and compassionate healthcare to the people of southwest Haiti. In 2008, Visitation Clinic, a rural hospital and clinic in one of the most underserved regions of Haiti, opened. Visitation Clinic has become a model for creating transformative healthcare in rural Haiti. The clinic is an architecturally innovative, energy-efficient building with first-rate medical infrastructure including a medical laboratory, radiology, sonography, pharmacy, computerized medical record system, solar power and satellite internet. The majority of medical services are provided by a full-time, all-Haitian medical and administrative staff who operate the clinic every weekday and provide routine, low-cost, subsidized healthcare to over 1,000 patients per month.
LOCATION: Petite-Rivière-de-Nippes is a municipality in the Miragoâne Arrondissement, in the Nippes Department of Haiti.
LANGUAGE: Haitian Creole and French are the official languages.
RECENT TRAINEE PROJECTS:
- Studying the competence, confidence, and satisfaction of the healthcare staff in diagnosing and treating patients at Visitation Clinic through surveys, observations, and formal and informal interviews.
