Unite for Sight

Global health delivery is complex, and programs are best developed by local medical professionals and social entrepreneurs who understand the barriers to quality care in their communities. As a global health delivery organization, Unite For Sight partners with local eye clinics to identify community-specific barriers that impede effective eye care delivery for patients living in extreme poverty. We work with the local clinics to develop strategies to overcome these barriers through sustainable systems of care. Unite For Sight’s programs are sustainable, emphasizing the development of existing local resources to meet long-term local eye care needs. Local ophthalmologists and ophthalmic staff provide the program’s management and leadership in their communities. Outreach services are brought to the people in their villages, in some cases including villages seven or more hours from the clinics.

The Global Health Leadership Internship provides outstanding undergraduate, public health, medical, and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, with an opportunity to engage in high impact front-line global health delivery programs.  This internship has a minimum of a full-time 4 week commitment, but at least an 8-10 week commitment is preferable. A minimum of a 6 week commitment is required during the summer months. The internship opportunity is available year-round.

LOCATION: New Haven, CT

RECENT TRAINEE PROJECTS: Summarized and analyzed data from clinics and outreach programs from eye clinic partners in India, Ghana, and Honduras. Created dashboards to visually communicate output and outcomes to providers in the field.
