MPH researchers find opioid use increases risk of serious infections
Vanderbilt MPH Program graduates' and faculty members' research finds that opioid users have a significantly increased risk of infections severe enough to require treatment at the hospital, such as pneumonia and meningitis, as compared to people who don’t use opioids. Authors on the study, released on February 11, 2018 in the Annals of Internal Medicine include Carlos Grijalva, M.D., M.P.H., Marie R. Griffin, M.D., M.P.H., and William Schaffner, M.D.
