Stata Boot Camp – December 2015

This three-day short course is intended for those who have never used Stata or those who need a refresher in the very basics of Stata. The interactive sessions provide students with exposure to the statistical software package, with plenty of time for hands-on practice.

Dates, times, and location

  • Monday, December 7 from 1 to 4pm
  • Wednesday, December 9 from 1 to 4pm
  • Friday, December 11 from 1 to 4pm

All sessions take place in the MPH Classroom #2600, on the second floor of the Village at Vanderbilt building (1500 21st Avenue South). Click here for a map.

Parking 

There is one-hour visitor and patient parking in the surface lot behind the building and in the designated areas of the underground parking garage. These areas are patrolled by VUMC Parking and Transportation Services. There is on-street parking along 17th Avenue South. Bike racks are located by the tables outside Dunkin Donuts.

Checklist: Getting ready for Stata Boot Camp

Please complete these items before Stata Boot Camp begins on Monday, December 7:

  1. Purchase and load Stata 14 on your computer (click here for instructions). You may use an earlier version of the software, but the course will be taught using Stata 14.
  2. Make sure you can open Stata 14 on your computer. If you have any trouble, please contact Andrew before boot camp begins.
  3. Email Annie and let us know if you are a Windows or Mac user (either is fine, but it is helpful for us to know in advance).
  4. If you have little experience with programming, you may want to review these resources (not required, but may help prepare you for boot camp):
