In addition, students are encouraged to become involved in the CDB Graduate Student Association, which hosts social and scientific events, lobbies on behalf of the students, and elects a student member of the Graduate Education Committee.
Finally, students are encouraged to attend departmental social events such as monthly Happy Hours and the annual Holiday party.
Teaching Expectations and Training
There is no formal teaching requirement for the CDB Ph.D. degree. Upon agreement with the mentor, students interested in gaining formal teaching experience can often find teaching assistantships in CDB graduate classes, the IGP program, or other departments. Information on teaching opportunities and training can be obtained through theĀ BRET office and theĀ Center for Teaching.
