Congratulations Sarah Milian – winner of a Dean’s Award for Exceptional Achievement in Graduate Studies
Jul. 9, 2018—Sarah, entering her fourth year of training in the Jacobson lab, was selected as one of the inaugural winners of the Dean’s Award for Exceptional Achievement in Graduate Studies. her work focuses on the physiological role of the two-pore domain K+ channel TALK-1 in human cells.

Mar. 23, 2018—The new grant (1R01DK115620-01), titled DESIGNING SELECTIVE TALK-1 INHIBITORS TO REDUCE BETA-CELL DYSFUNCTION IN DIABETES, will test the central hypothesis that the inhibition of TALK-1 potassium channels in pancreatic beta cells normalizes Ca2+ homeostasis under diabetic conditions, preventing beta-cell dysfunction and maintaining euglycemia.
