Ariel Thorson

Graduate Student, Stafford Lab, Molecular Physiology and Biophysics

I am an MD PhD student currently working with the Stafford lab to determine the mechanism through which lipid metabolism, estrogen, and chronic dysglycemia modulate risk for cardiovascular disease. We specifically study CETP and Hormone Receptor alpha. I am from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I went to Vanderbilt University for undergraduate, where I studied Biomedical Engineering. My clinical interest is pediatric endocrinology. I am passionate about diabetes research, patient advocacy, teaching, and promotion of diversity and inclusion within medicine as well as in science. In my free time, I like to cook vegan food, read mystery books, and spend time with friends.
