Krystofiak Awarded Grant from the Microscopy Society of America
Evan Krystofiak, Ph.D. (CISR) was awarded a grant from the Microscopy Society of America to develop open-source cryo-tools for electron microscopy. The grant title is: “A Modular, Open Source, Inexpensive, Cryo-Preparation System for Plunge and Slam-Freezing.” and the grant is called a “MSA Strategic Initiative”
The below image is a compelling image: It is the first image off of the Cell Imaging Shared Resource’s new Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscope (FIB-SEM), a Zeiss Crossbeam 550. The image is of the basal lateral surface of enterocytes from the small intestine, imaged by fracture SEM. Scalebar is 5 um. This one was imaged by Krystofiak on behalf of CISR.
