GSA Donation to the Vanderbilt Black Cultural Center

Posted by on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in News .

The Cell and Developmental Biology Graduate Student Association (CDB-GSA) decided to do more than release a statement supporting their Black peers and the Black Lives Matter movement – they donated $1000 to the Vanderbilt Black Cultural Center (BCC), an organization that supports the needs of Black staff, faculty, alumni, and students through programming, resources, and fellowship opportunities. The CDB-GSA generally uses their $1000 budget to fund social and outreach events. This year, their money will provide laptop computers through the student loan program at the BCC. Their generous donation even inspired the Molecular, Physiology, and Biophysics GSA to donate their remaining budget to the BCC as well. Individuals can donate to the BCC as well and other local efforts like Black Lives Matter Nashville.
