Hello there! My name is Sunaya, and from Second Look on, I have been blown away by Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. When I considered moving all the way to Nashville, I needed a good reason. I saw how happy the students here were with their programs, and I loved the school’s focus on wellness. The first-year pre-clinical curriculum also appealed to me, as I wanted the flexibility to fully explore my interests and grow in my third and fourth years before heading into a residency program. We get clinical experience early on by volunteering at our free clinic for disadvantaged populations (Shade Tree Clinic) and have a chance to change the face of medicine through the Social Mission Committee. More than that, I and my peers get to explore our creative sides. I’ve been part of Literature, Arts, and Medicine. Students here can publish creative works in Tabula Rasa and Post Call, an anthology of writing and visual arts created by the Vandy Med community!
Fun fact about me: I, like many Vandy Med students, count Taco Bell as a favorite spot! There’s a Taco Bell located in Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital, which is on the same campus as the medical school and adult hospital!
