Hello! My name is Dominique, and I came to VUSM on a unique path from Spelman College, a historically Black liberal arts college for women in Atlanta, Georgia. I had a passion for engineering and medicine, and my pre-medical advisor alerted me to Vanderbilt and its Short Pipeline program, which provides academic and professional mentoring, MCAT tutoring, and a summer research lab placement. All of the students I interacted with leading up to and on interview day seemed genuinely happy and sincere when they spoke about VUSM. The support from peers and faculty is amazing and exactly how it was described to me as an applicant. I am so glad to continue learning and serving in the South, and I hope you will reach out to me and to my classmates with any questions you might have to find your own path to VUSM.
