MSTP Celebrations – November 2016
The Vanderbilt MSTP wants to help celebrate these important events in our students lives!
Brigitte Nicole Gallant, weighing 7lbs 12oz and measuring 20.5 in, was born on November 16 at 10:06 AM in our own Vanderbilt University Hospital. Father, G3 Jean-Nicolas (J-N) Gallant, and Mother, Jessica Gallant are going to enjoy the holidays at home with their new little one and hope to share their joy with the MSTP soon. Congratulations to J-N and Jessica!
The MSTP M1 class took a break from studying to celebrate "Friendsgiving" on Saturday, November 19. The MSTP hopes that everyone had a great Thanksgiving break!
Shawn Barton (G2) ran the New York City Marathon for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, whose mission is changing lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship. He raised over $3000 which goes directly to funding their Cancer to 5k program, a 12-week training program designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity. This year's marathon had the most finishers of any marathon ever! Over 51,000 runners finished this year.
Jennifer Watchmaker (G3) was awarded the Trainee Research Prize by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) for her research project titled "Detection of Elevated Whole-Brain Oxygen Extraction Fraction (OEF) in Patients with Intracranial Stenosis using Non-Invasive MRI." Congratulations Jenny!
Do you have an event you would like to share for MSTP Celebrations? Whether your life event is big or small, we want to help you celebrate! Please send a photo and caption to mdphd@vanderbilt.edu. Examples of celebrations could include having a baby, adopting a pet, buying a house, winning an award, traveling to a conference or on a fun vacation, getting engaged or married OR anything that is special and important to you. Since this is a new feature, you may also include events that have happened in the past.
