MSTP Community Council Seminar
by Kevin Zhang (G2)
Last month, during our weekly seminar series, the MSTP had the privilege of hearing from Jaffee Judah, CEO and Co-Founder of Recycle & Reinvest, a Nashville-based organization dedicated to using creativity and sustainability to uplift local communities. Jaffee shared how his personal experiences shaped the vision for his organization. Growing up, he witnessed the intersection of environmental neglect and social disparities, which inspired him to take action.
In October 2018, he and a few colleagues founded Recycle & Reinvest with the mission of promoting environmental justice through education and community engagement. By using art as a tool for learning, the organization fosters awareness and a sense of ownership, pride, and collective responsibility. Their expansive programming includes collaborations with local schools, hands-on leadership initiatives, and educational workshops focused on sustainable practices, environmental justice, and the importance of green spaces in urban communities.
Jaffee also shared Recycle & Reinvest’s vision for the future, including plans to expand outreach efforts to engage even more communities across Nashville and beyond. It was an honor to hear from Jaffee and learn about the inspiring work his organization is doing.
