Financial Wellness Workshop

Over 30 MSTP students attended the Financial Wellness workshop on November 2nd. The Wellness Committee brought in Daniel Burke, a local financial planner who works with VUMC residency programs and specializes in working with medical professionals. Mr. Burke gave a short presentation and fielded questions from the crowd. He focused on the fundamentals of financial stability: a healthy emergency fund, a “save first, spend last” mentality, and a focus on “a process, not a product.” While these broad strokes helped to set the stage, Mr. Burke also answered many specific questions in detail, the answers to which can be found here. Due to the success of the event, the Wellness Committee and Daniel Burke are planning similar events in the future.
