Safety necessitated that the annual APSA/ASCI Joint Meeting in Chicago be transitioned to a virtual format. If you were unable to attend virtually, you can still catch some of the content! Our own Dr. David Aronoff  helped lead an interactive session titled “The Role of a Physician Scientist During a Pandemic” which touched on a variety of topics, including the importance of communication and opportunities for team science. In addition, Dr. Kim Rathmell discussed disruption in medicine and finding strength in social networks in the ASCI Presidential Address. Another session we wanted to highlight was “How to Support and Retain Early Career Physician-Scientists and the Impact of COVID-19,” which featured an esteemed panel of physician scientists (Drs. Francis Collins, Kay Lund, Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, David Hafler, Sindy Escobar Alvarez, and Nancy Brown). The APSA sessions can be found here and Dr. Rathmell’s Presidential ASCI address is found here.
