The Mini-MSTP returned for another day of fun and learning! On Tuesday, May 9, the MSTP Outreach Committee invited middle school children from across Dickson County elementary schools to participate in our annual event highlighting the experiences of physician-scientists. Over 65 children attended and participated in stations dedicated to engineering (thumb prosthetics), genetics (DNA extraction), anatomy (organ recital), physiology and medical imaging (physical exam and ultrasound), and medical knowledge (Jeopardy-style trivia). The kids loved the opportunities to learn about science and medicine—and made sure to tell us! We had volunteers from almost all class years with a particularly strong showing from the G1 class and we are so thankful to these volunteers and the Leadership Team (especially Megan!) for their instrumental help in making this event happen. We can’t wait for next year and hope you will join us!
