2018 Student Surgery Leadership Weekend at the University of Michigan
Attached please find an invitation letter and website for the 2018 Student Surgery Leadership Weekend at the University of Michigan on the weekend of May 4-6th, 2018. We ask that you please share this information with your students who are applying to general surgery, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery and/or otolaryngology and beginning residency in 2019. The goal of the weekend is to encourage Leadership development and help students plan their M4 year to get into surgical residency (personal statement reviews, etc.). Past agendas have been focused on “Leadership vs Management” and “Emotional Intelligence”. Our program this year is focused on “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”.
As stated in the invitation and the website, for a travel stipend is provided and room and meals are covered by the conference. There is no registration fee. The application deadline is March 10, 2018, with acceptance notifications made on April 5, 2018. We are unfortunately unable to fund all applicants, but have taken 25-30 external students each year.
